Building a production community in the most unproductive land
The project is aim to establish an oasis community based on the finite aquifer resource & abundant solar energy in Western Desert, Egypt, New desert settlement will be organized around water extraction, storage & solar energy harvesting. In the technical level, water management and solar energy will be integrated to provide thermal comfort in living space. Moreover, architecture intervention enhanced by modern technology can contribute to the long term social, economic and cultural suitability of desert community as well. It suggests a solution to balance resource consumption and economic growth, and to regenerate traditional social congregation within the background of global urbanization in desert countries.
