Metropolitan Insertions. How do we approach architecture in a metropolitan landscape via insertion? What does it mean and what are the effects? Approaching this idea, first on a 1:1 scale and then an urban scale, this project focuses on the cultural aspects of Whitecross Street market and the relationship between the public and private domains surrounding it.

Proposition for inserting on Whitecross Street – a mechanism to inhabit a wall.

Looking at market stalls as mechanisms for inhabiting the street.

Conceptual view of a mechanism to impact the dynamic of the street.

Envisioning further possibilities for an inserted mechanism to alter a person's behaviour in a space.

A counter-proposal to the demolition of a series of existing buildings. Using the culture of the existing inhabitants on Whitecross Street to form a new program for the site.

As a final overview, a triptych imagining a present condition and a utopian and dystopian scenario for Whitecross Street.
