Territorial Pissings
Alaska Preserves the image of wilderness in contemporary culture. It is also referred to as 'the last frontier', and idiom that constructs the perception of this remote territory as pristine natural landscape.
The territories designated for preservation are defined by boundaries that only exist in the virtual space of GPS and are shaped by negotiations between the politics of land use and economic interests.
The project seeks to challenge the assumption that preservation must be tied to a specific geographical location by proposing a strategy for olfactory interventions, constructing a series of shifting nomadic territories that resonate meaning to humans and the specimen inhabiting the land.
