The studio researched and designed a constructed landscape for Hackney Cooperative Development’s Pop-Up Theatre in Gillett Square, Dalston. The proposed design was to be classified as temporary works and conceived to enhance the specific function of an outdoor cinema as well as the existing commercial programme already on site. The design elements considered were a cinema screen armature, seating area, performance stage, and canopy. Each element was to allow for deployability and demountability overnight, and incorporate a strategy for on-site storage. In addition, the site was to be designed for controlled entry (ticketed entry), and allow for a number of different events (cinema, music performance, play, etc.).
The studio is currently developing a series of designs for construction in late summer/early fall 2012.
